Shruti Laya, Telangana American Telugu Association and Sri Seva Samithi are pleased to bring you the second program in the ART series.

Following the hugely successful Sree Annamacharya Sankeerthanotsavam in 2015, we bring you the Bhadrachala Ramadasu Sankeertanotsavam, a full day celebration of the compositions of Sri. Ramadasu. All local artists are invited to present music and dance performances. Participation in this program is FREE, and free gifts will be provided for all participants and attendees. Please read through this entire page for details of this exciting event.

Kancherla Gopanna (c 1620 – 1680), popularly known as Bhakta Ramadasu or Bhadrachala Ramadasu, was a 17th-century Indian devotee of Rama and a composer of Carnatic music. He is one among the famous vaggeyakaras. He lived in the village of Nelakondapalli near Bhadrachalam, Telangana during the 16th century and is renowned for constructing a famous temple for Rama at Bhadrachalam. His devotional lyrics to Rama are famous in South Indian classical music as Ramadaasu Keertanalu. Bhadrachala Ramadasu is known to have composed more than 200 keertanas at various stages of his life. He also wrote Dasarathi Satakamu with a 'Makutamu' 'Dasaradhee Karuna payonidhi', a collection of nearly 104 poems on Sri Rama.

This program is intended to celebrate and popularize these divine compositions of Sri. Ramadasu. We invite all local artists to present these Keerthanas, either as song or dance performances.

In order to ensure the widest range of participation, we shall have the following rules

  1. Group participation only A group shall consist of a minimum of 4 participants.
  2. Strongly encourage applications by teachers for their students. However, if there is a group of students learning remotely from the same or different teachers who want to join together to perform in this event, they can also reach out to us.
  3. Each teacher's group will be allowed 15 minutes. Larger groups (6 or more members) can extend up to 20 minutes.
  4. Accompanists: Participants are free to arrange their own accompanists (violin/mrudangam). We will also attempt to secure the services of some accompanists, so if you want us to arrange, please let us know.

In addition to Keerthanas, we encourage recitation of the poems from the Dasarathi Satakamu. This can be a solo or a group recitation.

As usual, we would like to avoid repetition. Please scroll through the list below, to make sure your choice of Keerthanas or Poems is not already taken.

We now have semi-automatic registration for the event. Please fill out the form below for the items that you wish to perform (separate form for each Keerthana or Poem) and click Submit. You will be informed at the end of the day if your request is accepted, or if it has already been allocated to someone else.
